Whether people and businesses are sending money to another country, spending abroad, or making and receiving international payments, Wise is on a mission to make their lives easier and save them money. As part of our team, you will be helping us create an entirely new network for the world's money. For everyone, everywhere. More about our mission and what we offer. Our Product Compliance & Risk (“PC&R”) team sits at the centre of Wise’s product development function, supporting our cross-functional teams in delivering exceptional financial products for our customers while ensuring they’re compliant by design. We’re seeking a highly motivated, customer-centric and proactive individual to join the Wise Global FinCrime PC&R team, to work across our Product and Compliance teams to take our AML programme to the next level.  This individual will work closely with our Global AML product teams to ensure our controls strike the right balance for our customers and our compliance requirements; detecting and preventing financial crime while maintaining a great customer experience and scalable operations. This role works side-by-side with our Product teams in order to: Focus on new products and features to ensure that scalable and compliant MVPs can be brought quickly to market. Remediate issues identified with existing products and features to ensure that they remain compliant, scalable, and effective in detecting financial crime. Your mission: Ownership of PC&R’s approach to AML control design and risk detection strategy Collaborate with AML product teams to help design controls and support interpretation of global regulation and expectations to ensure Wise’s in-house built AML capabilities are best in class Identify and drive enhancements that could improve risk detection quality, unlock growth, and improve operational processes (including reducing unnecessary contacts and friction) Use data to define the effectiveness of AML controls and support the implementation of an ongoing testing / assurance program Work with and support Product and Engineering teams to implement and prioritise control improvements to strengthen the programme while finding ways to create efficiencies (faster deployment, smarter automation, better triage) As improvements are identified in audits, regulatory feedback, incidents, or by third parties, define project plans and facilitate implementation end-to-end Perform periodic reviews to ensure controls remain compliant and effective, reviewing changing regulations, supervisory publications, and industry guidance, and translating that into product-ready requirements Contribute to the mapping and assessment of controls as part of the annual financial crime risk assessment, including coverage across typologies and regions A bit about you We are looking for someone passionate about payments, fintech and compliance risk management and with an eye on the future. You should have: Minimum 7 years’ experience working within AML/financial crime, with a particular focus on implementing and enhancing AML controls (e.g., transaction monitoring, behaviour/risk detection, typology-based coverage, alerting/decisioning) CAMS, ICA or equivalent certification desirable Experience collaborating with product and engineering teams to develop AML and/or financial crime controls in an in-house product environment Experience in automation of financial crime controls, including reducing manual effort while maintaining/improving detection quality Strong data analytics skills (able to define what “good” looks like, interpret performance, and convert insights into control changes) Clear communication, project coordination, and management skills Wisdom, a world view and talent for thinking outside the box Professionalism and high integrity You understand the importance of providing clear rationales for teams and excel in doing so (especially where trade-offs exist between friction, cost, and risk) You anticipate roadblocks, are resilient and not easily disheartened Willingness to challenge teams and themselves on how to best serve our customers, while keeping processes robust and compliant Willingness to travel as required For everyone, everywhere. We're people building money without borders  — without judgement or prejudice, too. We believe teams are strongest when they are diverse, equitable and inclusive.
