This is a pivotal role that will work both deeply and cross-functionally to drive the entry and growth of Airwallex — one of the world’s top payment technology companies — in the dynamic Southeast Asia Market You will work closely with our commercial, operations, product and regional APAC teams across a wide range of responsibilities, from market sizing and go-to-market design to day‑to‑day execution and continuous improvement. This is a highly visible, high-impact role for someone who enjoys building 0→1, thrives in ambiguity and wants to help shape Airwallex’s footprint in Southeast Asia. WHAT YOU’LL DO - Shape SEA market strategy Size, define and map the SEA market; develop our understanding of key verticals, competitors, ideal customer profiles, compelling use cases and revenue opportunities across Airwallex’s products (global accounts, FX, payments, issuing, treasury, etc.). - Lead go-to-market execution Work collaboratively with local and international cross-functional teams to plan and drive our go‑to‑market in SEA— including defining country plays, coordinating launch milestones, managing timelines, tracking progress and driving accountability across stakeholders. - Partner on customer onboarding and operations Partner closely with the operations, risk, compliance and implementation teams to design and deliver a seamless onboarding and activation experience for SEA customers, ensuring we balance customer experience with regulatory and risk requirements. - Localise and scale core processes Adapt and localise existing Airwallex processes from other regions (e.g. lead management, pipeline hygiene, pricing/approvals, forecasting, incentive design) to support scalable commercial activities and operational excellence in SEA. - Drive product–market fit in SEA Identify product–market fit for Airwallex products in SEA; work with customers and prospects to deeply understand local needs, collate market feedback and translate this into clear, prioritised product requirements to help drive growth in the market. - Run high-quality analysis and decision support Use data and structured problem solving to answer key business questions (e.g. market sizing, pricing, unit economics, sales productivity, channel performance) and provide executives with clear, actionable recommendations for the SEA business. - Own cross-functional projects end to end Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives (e.g. new vertical entry, partnership structures, new product launches, process re‑design), driving alignment across stakeholders and ensuring high-quality, on-time delivery. WHO YOU ARE We’re looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications below. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but not mandatory. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - 5+ years of experience in strategy and/or operations roles — for example, top-tier strategy or management consulting, or in-house strategy and operations in high-growth technology, fintech or financial services companies. - Strategic and analytical problem solver with a track record of structuring ambiguous problems, running rigorous quantitative and qualitative analysis, and turning insights into clear recommendations and execution plans. - Strong project and stakeholder management skills, with experience working in international teams and across multiple time zones and markets. You can balance inputs from commercial, product, operations, risk, compliance and regional leadership stakeholders. - Business-level English, with the ability to synthesise and communicate complex ideas in a simple, compelling way, both in writing and verbally. Fluency or working proficiency in one or more Southeast Asian languages is a strong advantage, depending on market scope. - High ownership and bias to action — you are a self-starter who can independently identify, prioritise and execute the highest-impact opportunities, and you are comfortable rolling up your sleeves in a fast-moving environment. - Commercial acumen, including comfort working with revenue, cost and profitability drivers, and supporting go-to-market initiatives, commercial proposals or market launches. - Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with people at all levels and across cultures, and influencing decisions without direct authority. - Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Direct experience supporting or leading market entry, country launches or new product launches, especially in Southeast Asia or other emerging markets. - Experience in fintech, payments, banking, financial services or other regulated industries, with an understanding of how regulatory, risk and compliance considerations shape market expansion. - Experience working with regional partnerships, distribution channels, strategic accounts or local ecosystems. - Hands-on experience working with data and tooling, such as CRM systems, BI dashboards, spreadsheets and financial or operating models, to support decision-making and drive operational improvements. - Experience studying, living or working across Southeast Asia, or in a matrixed global organisation. - Demonstrated ability to build repeatable playbooks and scale processes across multiple markets. - MBA or other advanced degree from a top-tier institution is a plus, but not required.
