Get to know the team The Anti-Abuse Engineering team is responsible for building services and applications to provide safety, security, and trust in the high-throughput systems and services of Grab and its partners. The team combats sophisticated fraud in real-time through distributed backend systems, composed of highly motivated engineers working across different technology domains. Get to know the role We are looking for an Entry-Level Software Engineer, Backend to join our Anti-Abuse Engineering team. You will work on building and maintaining backend services, APIs, and data systems that power fraud detection, abuse prevention, and risk management across Grab's platform. As an entry-level engineer, you will have the opportunity to learn from experienced engineers while contributing to systems that impact millions of users. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain backend services and APIs that support fraud detection and abuse prevention systems. Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following established engineering standards and best practices. Participate in code reviews and design discussions to learn from senior engineers and improve code quality. Collaborate with backend engineers, data engineers, and SREs to understand system architecture and operational requirements. Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues in production systems with guidance from senior team members. Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the team. Work on assigned tasks and features with a focus on timely delivery and quality. Participate in team meetings and sync-ups to stay aligned on project goals and priorities. What Essential Skills You Will Need   You have 1-3 years of professional backend software development experience You have proficiency in at least one backend programming language (Java, Python, Go, C++, or similar) You have experience with RESTful API design and development principles You have experience with relational and non-relational database systems You have proficiency with version control systems (Git) You have familiarity with AI tools and hands-on experience using them You have Agile/Scrum development experience You demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn from experienced engineers   What Nice-to-Have Skills Will Help You Succeed   Familiarity with microservices architecture concepts Basic experience with containerization technologies (Docker) Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and basic DevOps practices Familiarity with message queue systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ) Interest in security or fraud prevention systems Life at Grab We care about your well-being at Grab, here are some of the global benefits we offer: We have your back with Term Life Insurance and comprehensive Medical Insurance.
